The former BCL. I certainly hope the CDW finds a way to get rid of the aberrations that are rampant in American Catholic liturgy.

Think of the BCL as the Democratic Party, and the FDLC as Moveon.org.

FDLC - for all intents and purposes - exists to pressure the BCL into accepting progressive forms of worship. If you ever go online and read their position statements, you’ll get a good laugh.

One of the statements dealt with changing the GIRM to allow deacons to stand during the Consecration. The reason given was that black deacons might be seen as being subservient to a white priest if he were forced to kneel down beside him. How absurd!

Also, when the BCL was working on the Pastoral Intruction to the Order of Mass (PIOM), they were all about speeding up its publication and printing it within the Sacramentary/Roman Missal. After the BCL decided to send the document to Rome for approval, they suddenly decided that it would be best to slow down the process to a grinding halt, and carefully review the document to death.

Their agenda is so transparent.

Exactly! You’ll notice that whenever the concept of “tropin” comes up, the author will either a) cite no reference, or b) cite Liturgical Music Today, no. 20, which itself has no authority whatsoever, considering that it wasn’t even approved by the plenary of US bishops, nor was it sent to Rome for the required recognitio when attempting to alter texts of the Order of Mass.

The authors of this paragraph knew well that Rome would never approve it.
