Hi,
I got told by someone that the Bishop from my Diocese said that singing Peace during the Sign of Peace was anti-liturgical, in that we shouldn’t be playing anything and giving others the Sign of Peace instead (at least, that’s what I understood). I play in the band at Mass, and we’ve been playing that song for a long time now. The thing is, I’ve told this to the other members of the band, and no one agreed with me in that we should stop playing it, not even the leader.
Is it really anti-liturgical? If it is, what can I do if the rest of the members of the band won’t stop playing it? Should I let them play it while I don’t?
Thank you.
