Sinner's Prayer not Biblical Evangelical Admits

Where did I ever say it was “Catholic teaching”?

It is the teaching of God’s Word.

If you choose to believe that Jesus Christ did not die
for your venial sins, then that is your business.

If He did die for your venial sins, who are we to dare to declare them not mortal?Take it up with the Word of God and the Holy Spirit.

It’s not my fault that the Word of God contradicts your beliefs.

Not about Christ dying for our sins, but about mortal and venial sins.

Do you enjoy shadow boxing with straw men?

:juggle:

How long can Atemi keep juggling these kinds of statements?

Atemi sez:
All sins are mortal. :tsktsk:

The Bible sez:
“If any one sees his brother committing what is not a mortal sin, he will ask, and God will give him life for those whose sin is not mortal. There is sin which is mortal; I do not say that one is to pray for that. All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin which is not mortal.” (1 John 5:16-17)
He was speaking literally, not spiritually.

If a sin is deadly to the Son of God, you can be sure it is deadly to you too.

Jam 2:10 “For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.”

Is breaking all of God’s Law mortal or not?

…

This is a clear example of how people want to try to explain away the text that is before them so that it fits their own theology.

That figures. Jesus didn’t really mean, “Unless you eat my body and drink my blood, you have no life in you.” Right?

He didn’t really mean that Peter is the rock.
He didn’t really mean that men have authority to forgive sins.
James didn’t really mean that we are not justified by faith alone.

It just goes on and on and on…
It says what it says, my friend. Judas was not of the elect. You also ignore the context of James 2 which I explained very clearly in other threads…yet you still seem to ignore it.

Sin, defined as “missing the mark”, can be missing the mark very much, or only a little bit. Some people are not even aiming at the target, whereas, a Christian who aims at the target, and still does not hit a bullseye demonstrates a different intention than one who is outright blaspheming God (like the other thief on the cross next to Jesus).

The Catholic Church teaches that persistence in venial sins CAN become mortal, because rationalizing little things has a cumulative effect and those sins may have an effect that is compounded. I am curious how you understand this verse Atemi.

"If any one sees his brother committing what is not a mortal sin, he will ask, and God will give him life for those whose sin is not mortal. There is sin which is mortal; I do not say that one is to pray for that. 17 All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin which is not mortal."1 John 5:15-17
