I’m wondering if there are any of you out there listening to EWTN via Sirius? I have a real “serious” problem with the station “cutting out”. It’s sort of losing it’s signal or something. I don’t listen to many other stations on Sirius, but the one’s I do listen to (Classic Vinyl, etc) I don’t experience this problem on. I don’t notice a problem during the early morning==> Rosary (6:30 am CST) But when morning Mass starts…the problems begin. ALSO, in the afternoons after 4:00pm it cuts out a bit until Catholic Answers comes on…then it’s terrible! I miss so much of what is being said it drives me a bit crazy! I blame Satan for it!

I’ve sent a message to EWTN and haven’t heard anything back. I think I will contact Sirius tomorrow.

Thanks for any replies there may be out there! If the only way you are able to listen to EWTN is through Sirius, I would love to hear from you!

I am also a Sirius listener. Although I don’t often listen to EWTN on Sirius (since we have 4 AM stations here in MI), I have also experienced what you are talking about while I’ve been up north or out of state. I have a hunch it is not Sirius’ problem, since it only seems to happen with the EWTN feed. Sirius uplinks all of the stations to satellite in one location (NYNY area) - so my feeling is that there is a technical problem with the feed from EWTN. I have contacts with some folks with Sirius here in MI that might be able to shed some light on this. I’ll try to contact them to see if they even know about the issue. Stay tuned (sorry for the bad humor).

I had the same problem a few weeks ago listening to EWTN on SIRIUS. However, I attributed it to being in a new area with poor sat reception. I didn’t think to try another station.

I’m glad you posted this because I was thiking of getting Sirius so I could get EWTN.

I have noticed the problem also. It seems that it is just EWTN as I try other channels while it is going on with EWTN and the other channels are ok. It is frustrating, but still well worth it for me. EWTN is about the only channel I listen to and is the reason I pruchased the radio.

I’ll contact EWTN also about the problem. Maybe if they get enough complaints they can check in to the problem.

At least Catholic Answers is not cutting out

It is probably EWTN. I recently moved from Philadelphia where they have Catholic radio. Sometimes, the EWTN feed would cut out on some programs. I only experienced it a couple of times and not with the Mass (of course I listened to the re-broadcast not the live feed).

I too am thinking of getting Sirius (I am waiting for them to come out with a portable like XM has). There is Catholic radio here in Scranton, but it cuts out at dark (No Catholic Answers Live at the present time :bigyikes: ).

The weirdest thing…today EWTN was totally “blip-free”!!! It was GREAT!!!

Tim in MI…talk on to whoever you can! I want to start pushing Sirius just for EWTN here in good ol’ Arkansas!

Michael C…even though it (EWTN via Sirius) has had problems, it still beats all the trash there is traveling along the airwaves.

Unfortunately, Sirius also carries some gay related stations…I can’t remember what they are, but I pretty much stay with #160 (that’s the EWTN channel). I’m in my car 3+ hours a day and now it is time well spent because I can listen to the Rosary (6:30am) followed by Daily Mass(7am) and in the afternoons I can listen to St. Joseph’s Radio (carrying anything from speakers to Marcus Grodi’s Journey Home-from 4-5pm) followed by Catholic Answers(5-6pm). Throughout the day, there are great programs going on! I’m so very happy that I have this!

I’m just so happy that I received uninterrupted EWTN today I’m about to bust!:dancing:

God Bless you ALL!

I brought up the issue today - the person I talked to is going to have it looked into. I think this should be straightforward to solve, but we’ll see. If there are particular times (other than those listed above) that it seems to regularly happen, please post it here.

A prayer would help, too. St. Gabriel is the patron of Radio - makes sense - he transmitted the #1 message ever to the world.🙂

Hey, Tim…
I wanted to copy and post the e-mail sent to me by EWTN, but I can’t do it…ANYWAY…it seems that some of their equipment is broken and must be a bit outdated in that they are having to have parts made. BUT, I will tell you all that the station is coming in loud and clear right now and I couldn’t be happier! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND EWTN!!! Pray for them! Pray for the Word to get out there. I was listening to one show (during a break today) and truck drivers were calling in helping one another find places to go to Mass! Truly WONDERFUL!

God Bless you all!
