I am not sure I can use Sirius radio in my car, but they have given me 3 months free with my purchase of a car.

However, I can connect my iPhone to the radio and list to a lot of things that way, and I hardly ever listen to anything but Catholic radio and audio books (Yay, Librivox!!!) So I don’t know what advantages there are to Sirius.

Any thoughts about Sirius?

Thanks 🙂

I don’t know how that came out as iPhone, but it’s actually just the least expensive smart phone that comes with my contract.

Sirius has both the Catholic Channel and EWTN. Catholic Answers Live is covered by EWTN. Also occasionally, I’ll listen to the Old time radio shows. Also Classic Vinyl. When sis is in the car, she will do the Beatles channel or News. HCBU has some nice jazz.

Keep in mind, that when the free period is up, just let it go off, even if you want to keep it. Within a month you will get tons of mail offering you a longer period for a lower cost.
Wait for for the cheapest possible offer. Don’t be afraid to let it be turned off. I let mine go all the time. They always beg me back, for cheap.

With everyone carrying around smartphones, I couldn’t imagine pay-for radio is anything anyone would need. But I guess people might like the foolproof nature of choosing a Sirius station rather than managing podcasts or music feeds?

I am so old school. I still just load six CDs into my car’s player and that’s that. 😏

Do you have Sirius, or Sirius XM?

I have Sirius XM, and EWTN isn’t on it. They have something called “The Catholic Channel”, which had the hands-down absolute best coverage of the papal visit, for example, but I only tune in occasionally. Some of the radio hosts aren’t quite as sharp and punchy as they could be with their monologue, for example, so they meander a bit. The over-the-air EWTN shows have more variety and a little more punchiness and depth to them, so I tend to listen to those.

When I do listen to SiriusXM, I enjoy XM18 (Beatles channel) and XM148 (Old Time Radio). I used to listen to 40’s on 4, until they moved it; and they’ve consolidated a few of their classical/pops/symphony into one channel; and the Wharton School has some pretty fascinating interviews on the Business Channel that I listen to occasionally.

I’m leaning in this direction, except that I do delivery work and have to reload anything I’m listening to online each time I (name removed by moderator)ut directions or turn the car off. Speed counts, and gas adds up, so it becomes stressful. That’s why I was considering Sirius.

This is good to know, along with the fact that Sirius XM does not have both!

I don’t listen to Sirius for Catholic stuff. I listen to good music, clean comedy, and oldies.
They DO have a Catholic channel, and it’s pretty lame. All talk radio people think they’re incredibly witty. Mostly they are not. I prefer straight music. My CD’s get all ruined in the car. Too easy to scratch up.

I would agree Sirius Catholic Channel is fairly lame, but EWTN is there too. In addition to CA Live I mentioned above, Light of the East at 8:30AM (pacific) Sundays is fascinating.

I love my sirius XM. I have a 50 minute commute and listened to it every day for years.
