Here in the Philippines, Benedictine nun Mary John Mananzan was a feminist activist and educator. She was also an inspiration for women’s right. But other questioned her views for she supports The Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act according to her that: “I am a nun but I am for the reproductive [health] law, because I’m a woman. And I think the bishops overreacted,” and she also supports SOGIE Equality Bill (The Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Expression) . This two was opposed by the Catholic Church here in the Philippines, so, could this be offensive for the church? Thank you and God bless!

I don’t know a single thing about the bill other than what you posted, but based on the name alone I can tell you that it is not in line with Catholic teaching and morality. Yes, if it is as you described it would be correct to oppose this bill.

As for the nun who supports it - we have their type in the U.S. as well (Google the “Nuns on the Bus” for an example of Catholic nuns gone off the rails in the name of feminism). Beware of those who use their Catholic beliefs as a tactic to try to shame or persuade Catholics to vote for laws that on their face opposed to Catholic teaching. Don’t listen to their intentionally misleading rhetoric - if something seems bad, it probably is. Trust your instincts and your conscience.
