My mother had a bunion surgery couple days ago, and can’t really walk so my sisters and I have been helping and making sure someone is home with her, my brother or father also but they work a lot so it’s more my sisters and I who are helping. Anyway, my older sister is married (no kids yet), and she does tend to help out my mother more and I guess care for her better in a way. My younger sister (1 year younger) and I care, but just in different ways. My older sister has and always had a closer relationship with my mom, and she’s the oldest of all of us so she’s always been the more responsible and mature one. However, she said some things that hurt - she was calling all of us selfish and spoiled, and she even said to me “what are you good for” as in kinda meaning what are u good for in this world. that really hurt, because, i truly try my best to do always do the right thing and help people. and, yes, she’s right i should help out my family more but she made me feel like i was worth nothing and a horrible person. But, my mother agrees with her a lot of the times, and they both put all of us down so much. I don’t know, maybei m wrong and I should change, but I just need some advice

We should always keep a close eye on ourselves and seek ways in which we can become better children of God. (remember the story about finding the sliver in another’s eye…)
So I can’t say that maybe there are ways for you to do better.

On the other hand, the actions of your sister is just as uncharitable and so it seems she has a sliver or two in her eye as well.

The problem is that there is really nothing you can do to change your sister, or your mother. If they are complainers, the odds are that they will continue to complain no matter what you do.

Do a good self examination. Make sure you are doing all that is asked, and all that you are able. Correct any deficiencies you might find.
Then - Pray for strength and courage to bear up under the barbs tossed by your sister and mom. Forgive them and offer the slights and hurtful comments up to our Lord, and pray that He soften their hearts and come to realize that everyone is doing their best.

Hope this helps some

Peace
James

As my brother said about one of our relatives, “Some people are not happy unless they have something to be unhappy about.”
