Cloisters

Well-known member
This cloistered congregation was the first of its kind in the new world. They were founded in Quebec, and had several houses in the US, but are now down to two: Waterville, NY, and Manchester, NH.

Waterville, NY:

Manchester, NH:

I’ve not had any word on the Brooklyn monastery

Here is the link for the APBs in Canada. They have four monasteries, and have had vocations in recent years.

Blessings,
Mrs Cloisters OP

Gentle correction: the New York house is in Watertown, not Waterville (there is a Waterville, NY, but the sisters are not there.

I have The Precious Blood & Mother, published by either the Sisters or the Confraternity of the Precious Blood. Do they still print it? Also, is the Confraternity disbanded? I read somewhere that they weren’t publishing anymore.

I have lots of old CPB books. They’re small, easy to read and chock full of good Catholic doctrine & prayers.

The two monasteries in the US have the sacramentals. The Precious Blood and Mother is still available on Amazon. I’m not sure about the CPB.

Margaret_Ann, I know there was one CPB book that told the biography of Jesus by arranging various passages in the Synoptic Gospels in chronological order. My godmother (a sister, not of the Precious Blood) had a copy–don’t know what happened to it when she died. If you have a copy of that one, could you please post the title, which would make it much easier for me to find a used copy? Or PM me. Thank you!

I have 2 CPB books - Christ in the Gospel & My Meditation on the Gospel. The first is from 1949, the second from 1962.

I took some pictures (forgive my index finger in the one picture):

Thank you! “Christ in the Gospels” is the one I’ve been looking for.

You’re welcome. ☺️ I thought that Christ in the Gospels was what you were looking for but posted both just in case.

The Sister Adorers of the Precious Blood in Brooklyn are sharing their cloister with Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará Sisters. (here’s a link: Two Communities Share Local Cloister - The Tablet) I assume this was done because the Sister Adorers of the Precious Blood in Brooklyn didn’t receive enough vocation to maintain the older members and the monastery on their own, so instead of closing it, welcomed another group to share with them.
