Slave of the Clock

The clock is my master, the governor of time spent.
It tells me when to go and when to be dormant.
It gets me of out bed and on time to meetings.
It leads me to meals and guides television’s viewings.

For the mighty clock, organizes each and every day.
It partitions my activities and guides my humble way.
It helps me be organized to serve myself and others too.
It allows me to do what I must and whatever I can do.

For without a keeper of time to keep me right on track,
There would many things that I would forget or come to lack.
I would miss many meals and mess up my medications,
I would get lost in things and not fulfill my vocations.

But as I choose to follow the clock and let it guide me,
I am not the clock’s slave and it is not my master truly
For it is just a tool I use to organize my complex life,
to do what I need and to avoid chaos’ confusing strife.

One of two poems I wrote yesterday during an internet outage. This one is more philosophical than spiritual, but I think you would enjoy it.
