We are considering having small groups for men in our parish.
Any ideas on how to conduct them, how often we should hold them ,where would the best place to meet ?coffee shops, church, or homes. How often works best ?

The small group I am in started with an Emmaus retreat. The retreat format was started, I believe, in Florida a few years ago. It is a retreat given by lay men and women, with a chaplain and follows a specific format.

Our meetings are once a month, and we focus on the readings for the following Sunday, with a commentary and discussion after the reading.

Our men’s group is rather informal. We meet every Saturday morning (early, before Mass) in the chapel. We have no agenda or regular membership, but try to keep focused on topics related to the Faith. We always start with a prayer and a song, and end with intercessory prayer. We get into some great discussions, and we have been maintaining a parish rack with information about the faith, but we accomplish little else as a group (although some of our members are active in other ministries).

Here are some resources if you are looking to establish something a little more organized:

we have them, they are called golf foursomes.

We have had small faith groups for several years, tried many times but simply cannot get small faith sharing groups for men only off the ground, although several of our groups have men as members, or married couples.
