Apparently it was the teen mass as communion was distributed in both kind by mostly teenage girls dressed very casually. The Vessels were clear glass.
The music… ugh.
I did admire how much the kids seemed to be into it. There was something really blessed about it. But the other stuff?
Oh yeah, and “Disciples” was replaced with “friends” in the words of institution. Yes, I know they were his friends. But disciples means more than friend. It mean follower.
I have been a protestant for enough years to know that 70’s kids can have a love for reverence of relevance. In this day and age I bet teens would love stong, traditional liturgy where men take the lead. It would probably be a cool drink of water compared to many of their postmodern homes.
Keep the fun stuff for life teen. Give then a happy clappy mass, focused on them instead of God and they will think this is the norm and will find the “real thing” inferior when they turn 18 and find they are too old for the bopper mass.
