Apparently it was the teen mass as communion was distributed in both kind by mostly teenage girls dressed very casually. The Vessels were clear glass.

The music… ugh.

I did admire how much the kids seemed to be into it. There was something really blessed about it. But the other stuff?

Oh yeah, and “Disciples” was replaced with “friends” in the words of institution. Yes, I know they were his friends. But disciples means more than friend. It mean follower.

I have been a protestant for enough years to know that 70’s kids can have a love for reverence of relevance. In this day and age I bet teens would love stong, traditional liturgy where men take the lead. It would probably be a cool drink of water compared to many of their postmodern homes.

Keep the fun stuff for life teen. Give then a happy clappy mass, focused on them instead of God and they will think this is the norm and will find the “real thing” inferior when they turn 18 and find they are too old for the bopper mass.

The teens at our parish come for the same Holy Mass as the rest of the parish.

From what I have been told, they think the LifeTeen mass is just what the establishment thinks is “hip”. They don’t want to be told how they should worship and want to be treated like adults.

Good for them. Of course the priest, bless him, he is a wonderful man, but he is also clearly a boomer priest.

The other Sunday the Teen/Youth group held Mass but the only thing different was that they were the lectors & choir members and we sang praise songs (Awesome God, As the Deer, etc.) instead of the norm. As far as communion and the other parts of the Mass, the priest did those as always.

Personally, I think its good to let the youth take part but I guess I just like the traditional ways so I started going to the 8 am Mass. I enjoyed the Teen Mass but it just wasn’t something I would like all the time. But we only do it once every few months anyway so I guess I don’t have to worry about it!

You are very blessed to be offered a traditional Holy Mass! Good for you!

Our Teen Choir takes part too.
They sing at the Wednesday morning Latin Holy Mass 👍
