So the last day of Lent is wednesday, then Friday we fast and abstain one more time? If so, is Thursday the day when we can, say, resume eating sweets if we gave them up for Lent? Or must we wait until Easter?
Wednesday marks the end of our penitential perparation which we call Lent and the beginning of the most solemn season in the entire Christian calendar. We have entered fully into the rememberance of Christ’s *Passion and Death. ***This is not a time of celebration, nor is it appropriate to abandon our personal sacrificial acts which we have followed throughout Lent. In fact, our penance should be even more severe, as demonstrated by the universal fast which we participate in on Good Friday.
