The first reading says that Samuel was asleep in the temple of the Lord, where the ark was. My daily missal says he was
asleep in the sanctuary. It sounds like he was sleeping in the
main area of holiness, where worship is held. Wouldn’t that be
a strange experience for a little one? First, his mother takes
him there, and leaves him in the care of the priest. The priest
then has him sleep in the sanctuary! How would it feel to sleep
in the sanctuary all night? What if you were little and slept there
every night, and you knew it was your new home? I wonder how
the sons of Eli treated him?

The second reading tells us that our bodies are not our own, and
therefore we must glorify God with our bodies. How can we be
sure we are glorifying God with our every action?

Two of John the Baptist’s disciples followed Jesus and spent
the day with Him. The reading tells us who one of them was,
but what about the other, is it anyone we know? Does the Bible
tell us elsewhere who he was?

So what struck you about today’s readings?:bible1:
