So let's talk about today's readings 4/16/09

“Repent…that the Lord may…send you the Christ already appointed for you,
Jesus, whom heaven must receive until the times of universal restoration…”
This is in the first reading. Is this referring to the 2nd coming of Jesus?
Is the 2nd coming dependant on a certain amount of repentance?

Then in the gospel Jesus says that repentance would be preached to all nations,
beginning with Jerusalem.

Has anyone seen repentance being preached lately?
More than likely, “Jesus loves you” is being preached.
What are the main things we need to repent of that are the most widespread?
and, When you ask this question to yourself, does the answer ever apply to you,
or do you believe it’s mostly “other people” who should repent of things?

Rpentence is something that I think does need to be preached, its so easy to just preach that Jesus loves and sugar coat the rest. I always say “if being a Christian is easy then you’re doing it wrong” All have fallen short of the Glory of God and all need to repent. this is something that usually rings more true to myself than “ptjer people” but I do think there is a great need of repentance preaching in Christianity as a whole. listen to Fr John Coarpi on EWTN he really tells it like it is.:angel1:

Repentence is something that I think does need to be preached

Welcome Brian, I see you are new… You will find there is every kind of person
here, it is very interesting…

Now, let’s say this Sunday, or even tomorrow morning, the priest just decided
to start preaching repentence. What do you think he would say? Do you
think it would be, “everybody, go to confession?” OR do you think there are some
widespread things we are doing that we didn’t realise (or even that we do realise)
that we need to repent of?

You know, I can’t remember the last time I heard a priest say the word “repent”
