I’m still not done thinking about everything vickinator and prairie girl said 2 days ago…

From the first reading:
“We find nothing wrong with this man.
Suppose a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?”

What do they mean by a “spirit” if not an angel? Surely they would have found
something wrong with him if he had spoken to a demon? Or are they just saying
angel to show clarification on what they mean by the word spirit, instead of referring
to 2 different things?

Later on in the reading it says: The following night the Lord stood by him and said, “Take courage…”
What was that like? Was the Lord in bodily form standing? Did He have a voice?

In today’s psalm it says, “you will show me the path to life”. I like it because
I always feel like the psalm of the day is the prayer God wants me to say that day.
So today, I feel God wants to encourage me!

Jesus prays in today’s gospel: “that they may be brought to perfection as one,
that the world may know that you sent me,”
There are these 2 people in my church, they are kind of like enemies. One is a
“traditional” Catholic and believes in every holy practice and prayer that there could
ever be. The other is a “liberal” Catholic, and believes in compassion to others
above all else. These 2 people are 2 sides of the same coin, but they can’t see it.
If only they could be in unity, today’s reading would come true! If these 2 became
friends, the whole church would know it was by the power of God!

So what struck you about today’s readings? :bible1::twocents:

🙂 today our priest explained that the reason for the question of spirits/angels… was because of what the higher ups believed.

one group only accepted the first 5 books and in the first 5 books it is very hard to find anything about angels, spirit, rising from the dead…

so they didn’t accept pauls teaching…

the other group accepted him more. and the romans went and got him out of there fearing they would kill him because he was a roman citizen… but as the readings ended… he is being sent on to rome to preach what he preached there… (he is killed in rome i believe. i don’t know if he is killed at this trip is will be going on?) 🙂

i love this priests homily. he explains things so well and there is always something i can apply. i wish he wasn’t just visiting 😦
