Missed your thought-provoking starter-questions, cheeto. But here goes with what struck me…
The apostles were to leave their peace on a house that was worthy, if not, their peace returned to them. I wonder what made the house ‘worthy.’ Was it their hospitality or their acceptance of the message of the apostles (the kingdom of God), or something else?

also had to be living in an upright way? I don’t really think so, because after they
accept the message, they will then live in an upright way…

The words that struck me from the first reading were “come closer to me”, said by
Joseph to his brothers. I thought of Jesus right away. Just as Joseph was sold
into slavery by his brothers, Jesus was sold by His brothers for 30 pieces of silver…
Joseph told his brothers not to feel bad, that God meant it for good, to save their
lives. Would Jesus ever say that to His brothers? His death was bad, but God
meant it for good, to save everyone’s lives. Our priest told a story of a former pope
on a visit to the Jews. As he greeted the Jews, he said, “I am your brother Joseph”.
Can the psalm be also about Jesus? Just as God called down famine on the land
of Egypt, He will call down destruction on this earth. He sent a man before them -
Jesus - killed as a criminal. As the king sent and released Joseph in the 3rd
paragraph, God sent and released Jesus from death. He made Him Lord of Heaven,
His home, and ruler of all His possessions, the earth. Jesus was a man sent
ahead of the destruction to befall this earth, to save us from death, who were
responsible for His suffering…
“raise the dead” - this is one of the things the apostles were instructed to do by
Jesus. Did they do it? How many did they raise from the dead? Did they have
cemetaries back then?
What did it mean to the people back then that the kingdom of God was close at hand? Jesus hadn’t died and rose from the dead yet. Did it just mean to them
“praise God, I am healed”?

I was struck with how the father so obviously favored his two sons over the others, that it’s no wonder they hated Joseph so much. And yet they loved their father enough to not hurt the youngest brother, since they saw how much the father suffered at Joseph’s death.
Is this a place where the Bible doens’t point out all the bad that’s gone on, or was it right for him to so openly favor certain sons?
When you feel loved by those you love, you rejoice with the love they give others. But when you feel your love is rejected, you become jealous of those who do receive love. Until you mature, then you just suffer without wishing harm.

Sometimes when people read about the apostles, they might think, “I identifyIs this a place where the Bible doens’t point out all the bad that’s gone on, or was it right for him to so openly favor certain sons?
with Peter” or “I’m kind of like John”. Maybe when they read about the 12 tribes
(sons) of Israel, they could say, “I’m kind of like Reuben” or “I’m a priest, like Levi”.
But if you actually were one of the brothers, you would have no choice. You would
be living in this family, and you would know you are not Joseph. You wouldn’t be
able to say, “I’m like Joseph”, because you are living it, and you are not Joseph.
Naturally I think it’s wrong to favor certains sons, however, it sure seems like
Jesus favored Peter, James and John… maybe it’s not wrong?
