Something really struck me about today’s gospel.
"Whenever unclean spirits saw Him they would fall down
before Him and shout, “You are the Son of God!”
It made me think that if we saw someone with an unclean
spirit today, and they fell down saying, “You are the
Son of God!” at say the blessed sacrament or a crucifix,
wouldn’t we say to ourselves, “see how great their faith is”
rather than “that person must have an unclean spirit”.
Look at Acts 16:17 and see what a slave girl was shouting
behind the apostle Paul as he went on his way, “These men
are servants of the most high God; they will make known
to you a way of salvation!”. If I saw that I would say to
myself, “see how great her faith is!”, yet the apostle Paul
turns to her and says, “come out of her!”, and the unclean
spirit leaves. How did he know?
