I truly am frustrated!! Sorry I guess I need to vent! I was looking so forward to Confession, but the line took too long and the priest soon left to say Mass…

I really wanted to confess!! :banghead::banghead::banghead: I don’t blame it on anyone! Guess it was bad timing for me. And to think it would’ve been my first in a couple of years. I’ll try again next week…:(:(😦

I know how you feel. Whenever this happens to me, I consider it a grace from God because perhaps I am not properly prepared to confess just yet and need the extra time to develop better dispositions.

If you haven’t been in a few years, maybe it would be good to make an appointment with the priest for sometime during the week. Not only are you more likely to get to confession, but you’d have more time to confess and wouldn’t be pressed for time if you have a lot to go through.

I agree with the above poster. If it is your first time in a few years then it would be better to make an appointment as this would allow more time for the confession and allow the Priest and yourself to better prepare for a general confession.

It would be better for you to have an appointment with the Priest for a general confession which will give you and the Priest plenty of time to prepare for it

Next time show up a half hour to an hour before to ensure a place up front in the line. Use that time to pray for a good confession and examine your conscience.

Thanks! And thank you everyone who took the time to reply. That is awesome! 👍
Truth is that I showed up early but the line was long. I managed to examine my conscience a bit and I guess I only have more time now to make sure I don’t forget anything. I also thought the same thing about going earlier next time as I left church. I’ll try but sometimes things happen you know?

That’s what I do. I arrive 5-10 minutes early to pray and examine my conscience. If an older person arrives after me, I’ll ask of they want to go first. I do that because it gets dark so early at this time of year, and many seniors in my parish don’t like to drive after sunset. But, were a small lake community parish; everyone knows each other.

As a side note, I’ve been praying the First Five Saturdays devotion beginning in August. I recommend it to anyone:

My parish has a special devotion to Our Lady of Fatima because we’re named after her.

Is that really the best way to approach the situation? 🤷

The reason I ask is because if you’re taking this as a sign (I can’t say for certain yea or nay), then be careful, because people not being able to go because of long lines in some parishes happens fairly frequently.

This was just from personal experience. Usually, when I can’t make it, I notice how I really am not prepared at all to confess and so I thought the original poster could be in the same situation considering he hasn’t confessed for years. It certainly isn’t an absolute, but I thought it might help.

maybe it was a sign from God that he’d been waiting a long time for you, and that the door is always open for next time, and that his patience is never ending, glad to see you home again, god bless you stay with my friend, life is short, confession is beautiful

Hey!! 😆😊

I just came from Church having confessed for the first time in like 3 years and I stayed for Mass! I took Jesus and almost cried! A little tear! 😉

It felt amazing and so glad I’m back in full communion with Christ and His Beloved Bride!! I prayed for many people with illnesses as I believe they suffer more than I! And so much for the children of God! I prayed and will continue to do so for there are many enemies of Christ that wish to steal them from God to live in sin and disorder! 😥

Let us pray for each other that we may all change our ways for our Lord! It is a way of life of course our paths lead as we continue to carry out crosses everyday and overcome our disorders! God bless you all brothers and sisters!

Welcome home! It is a beautiful feeling, isn’t it?

I think it’s a sign from God that we need more confession times!

Glad you were finally able to get in Art321! Welcome home! 👍

Thank you truly and I do agree with you! The sacrament of Confession must be promoted more and thank the Lord that it is! It saddens me to see that the far majority of Catholics are away from the Church and do hope they come back. Anything can happen and I do hope to continue to use these sacred sacrament as long as I can!

Thank you! Honestly, it was a beautiful and magical feeling! It brings one such peace compared to what the rest of the word can offer you. God bless!
