…man I suck :p:p:p:p

We had a short training for wannabe cantors last week. Because of some events, there were literally 10 people in our Divine Liturgy this morning. I was on cantoring duty today but I was supposed to be with someone else. That someone else didn’t show up. So I had to do the entire Divine Liturgy.

Well, I tried my best 😉

I’m sure you were fine. 🙂

All that matters is that your heart was in the right place - you were there for God, not yourself.

I’m sure you did fine! I think the new “Gloria” and “Alleluia” alone are very complex, which is why I shall remain a lip-syncher! Those of us who can’t sing really admire the cantors and choir–in fact, we depend on you! 🙂

The chances of me hitting most of those notes are slim and none!

Practice Practice Practice til’ you sing a smooth melody of the Church

Did you also have a choir?

Technically, yes. The family at the other side of the church was singing. The funniest thing was they were singing from the old song book (Basilian) while we were singing from the new book (Anthology) and eventually the cantors folded and we sung the Basilian from the Cherubic Hymn forward 😛

I didn’t follow the rule that the subdeacon taught us last week, that we should keep our tone and pace and have others follow. I ended up following the family sometimes. Although sometimes I tend to go a bit faster.

I’m sure you did great and it takes a lot of guts to have done it alone for the first time. I’m sure you were a blessing!

Just think of all the time off of purgatory you earned those other people. 😃
I’m pretty sure the people at Divine Liturgy today got a taste of what purgatory is like (even though we technically don’t believe in purgatory in that way ;)) 😛

My singing is like purgatory in their ears 😃

Christ did say to pick up your cross. If anyone says anything, just tell them how much spiritual good you are doing them. 😉

I think I will start attending Saturday morning Divine Liturgy more so I can practice a bit more.

Someplace G. K. Chesterton wrote that - “If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing badly.” I try to remember that when we are short a server, or reader or whatever and I fill in. If they don’t have anyone better they have to take me.

Congratulations on surviving your baptism by fire. 😃

There was a reason why…

My Lord gifted me with the voice of a frog…

But He put into my heart to help seniors…

Trust the Lord. He Knows All.
