And did not see what all the uproar is about. My husband and I both found it uplifting and moving. Of course, there are some things that may not be accurate, but nothing that would stop us from purchasing this movie when it comes out.

We did not think that the movie portrayed the Blessed Virgin as a smart-alecky kid. Because Mary was without sin, would that make her without joy?

Everyone’s “anti” argument is the birthing of Jesus. Nobody knows exactly what Our Lady experienced physiologically during Christ’s birth, although I think it would be safe to say she had to know that the baby was coming. If one paid attention to the differences between Elizabeth’s labor, and Mary’s, I think the movie was sensitive to her sinlessness.

I’m sure there are a lot of threads around here regarding the film, and if this needs to be moved, that’s fine. I haven’t been around much, so haven’t seen others’ opinions. 🙂

I’m with you, Sue. I loved the movie and I didn’t see anything anti-Catholic at all about it. I can’t wait to purchase it.

I especially loved seeing the birth of baby Jesus. When He was born I couldn’t help but cry thinking, all of the hope for the world is in that tiny beautiful baby.

My wonderful Pastor (God Bless him and give him long life), said, support the movie because of it’s “Clean and Religious” nature then discuss the dogma after.

I have not seen it yet but I have to brag for a moment and say that the donkey star in the movie is my parish priests donkey! She lives on our parish grounds along with all the other animals my priest owns. 😃 I thought it was pretty cool wen he told us this right before the movie came out. She will be coming home soon. She is expecting apparently! 😉

I’d have to say, she did an excellent job with her role! I totally believed she was THE donkey! 😉

We just saw the movie last night and I don’t understand all the criticism either.

rayne89,
Did you take your daughter? My dh is going to take our oldest daughter (almost 11) but I wasn’t sure if it was too scary (killing the babies & the labor scene) for my 8 year old. She’s not too easy freaked… but since you saw it just last night… what is your opinion?

lol! This is pretty much my Priest said, her name is Gilda. I’ll have to take some pics of her when she comes back and I’ll post them with her new little donkey 😉 😃

I think if you could get her to autograph the pictures… maybe with a hoof print, they’d be worth a bundle on Ebay! Or maybe you could sell them to a magazine… they are always looking to splash their covers with Hollywood’s newest baby! 😉

They don’t actually show the babies being killed just people screaming and they show swords. There are 2 child birth scenes one of Elizabeth giving birth to John and ofcourse Mary giving birth to Jesus. Neither graphic just some yelling from the pain and bearing down. They weren’t very long. My daughter does scare easy and she was fine.

That’s pretty much how I remembered it also. thanks!

Hmm not a bad idea 😉 too funny. I’ll have to tell my priest that one.

It was good… There where things that bothered me, or I would say dissapointed me in a way, but it was not a Catholic Movie. Overall, there was beauty to it. Sue, I completely agree with you on Elizabeth vs Mary in labor…

I loved the portrayal of St. Joseph in this film. He was shown as a young, strong head of his household, not as a bystandard (as many films and authors have presented in the past). My favorite scenes were when they were on the road to Bethlehem and when the wise men came with their gifts. A beautiful movie overall.
