WG, you’d love the place I went yesterday - Frank’s Pizza & Pasta. The owner, Armando, is from Italy and still has a heavy accent. He makes his own dough and sauces and salad dressings, and they’re all great. They make pizza, tomato breads, spaghetti pies, subs, salads and more different pasta dishes than you can count with all kinds of seafood, chicken, veal, sausage, meatballs (the only thing they don’t make themselves), veggies… Oh, and great soups and homemade breads, too. If there’s some combination of ingredients that’s not on the menu that you want, they’ll make that, too - whatever you ask for that they have on hand. It looks like a little hole in the wall from the outside of the little strip shopping center, but inside it’s bright and clean with pretty paintings of Italy on the walls. It’s still a sub shop, but very nice. DD worked there for a couple of years.Liza, I hear ya, I have a serious weakness for such pizza ‘joints.’ I grew up in NJ, and we took frequent trips into the city…need I say more? No pizza like it! Chicago style is yum, too.
There is a place on the way to Clearwater called Mario’s and it’s just simple, and delicious food, and the guys all have New Yawk accents. Perfect. I actually think the owner is from Philly, same thing.![]()
Yesterday, my friend & I had mussels with lemon wine sauce and a little cheese pizza. Perfect!
