So, you think you want to be a priest or a nun…
I posted this thread for all of those who have been entertaining the idea of possibly being a priest or a nun because I, myself, struggled with such an idea as a teenager and a young adult.
I definitely was curious and interested, but even growing up as a Catholic, no one in my family thought to ask me about it.
So whether you are Catholic and curious, or non-Catholic and curious – you might wonder what is the next step as far as information. " What do I do now?" you might ask yourself.
As I found out through several phone calls, its a good idea to find out first, ***What Diocese do I live in? *** Ask any Catholic in your local vicinity – they will tell you what diocese you are in.
Next, find out where the Diocesan Office is located. That is where the Bishop resides (usually a Cathedral or very large church).
And finally, ***Call the Diocesan Office and ask for the Vocations Director. *** Make sure you get the Vocations Director’s name, phone number and email if possible.
Ask to make an Appointment with the Vocations Director.
Its that simple.
And don’t worry yourself about it, you’re not committing to anything – you’re only gathering information at this point – and information is a good thing when you are discerning a lifetime vocation.
God bless you and keep us all posted if this helps and things begin to gel for you.
