Socialism modeled in Scripture?

My friend quotes Acts 2: 44,45
Acts 4:32-37
And concludes that Christians sound pretty socialist.
I believe that communism is a bad thing and that socialism is step towards communism.
Give me your thoughts.

A superficial reading of those passages might lead someone to that conclusion. However as we see from the other epistles in the New Testament not every early Christian community lived like that. The Book of Acts is simply recording the manner in which the early Christian community of Jerusalem operated but that style of living was not imposed upon any other local Christian community. There’s nothing wrong with individuals freely choosing to live together in that type of community (i.e. religious communities). Its quite another matter, however, to impose it upon others by the force of government.
