Sola Scriptura and why do Protestants like it?

Muze,

Just to seal to deal, so to speak!

The Real Presence of Christ under the species of bread and wine is attested to, first of all, by the words which our Saviour used in promising the Eucharist. The evening previous, He had wrought two great miracles: first, in a solitary spot on the shore of Lake Genesareth, He multiplied the loaves (John 6: 1-15); and later the same evening He walked over the waters to His disciples who were struggling to keep their little boat from capsizing (John: 6-21). The multiplication of loaves manifested the power Christ had over bread, and the walking on water the power over His own body. On the following day in the synagogue at Capharnaum, He promised that sacrament which is His body under the form of bread (John 6:22-71): " ‘The bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.’ The Jews on that account argued with one another, saying: ‘How can this man give us His flesh to eat?’ [Obviously they had given a literal interpretation to His words.] Jesus therefore said to them: ‘Amen. amen I say to you, UNLESS YOU EAT THE FLESH OF THE SON OF MAN, AND DRINK HIS BLOOD, YOU SHALL NOT HAVE LIFE IN YOU. HE WHO EATS MY FLESH AND DRINKS MY BLOOD HAS LIFE EVERLASTING AND I WILL RAISE HIM UP ON THE LAST DAY. FOR MY FLESH IS FOOD INDEED: AND MY BLOOD IS DRINK INDEED. HE WHO EATS MY FLESH AND DRINKS MY BLOOD, ABIDES IN ME AND I IN HIM. AS THE LIVING FATHER HAS SENT ME, AND I LIVE BECAUSE OF THE FATHER, SO HE WHO EATS ME, HE ALSO SHALL LIVE BECAUSE OF ME.’ " :highprayer:

The Saviour, you will notice, retracts not one of His words; on the contrary, He confirms them by a solemn oath.

I hope this lesson has shown you the danger of trying to interpret Scripture all by yourself and why the Protestant dogma of private judgment has been the ruin of so many for the past five hundred years.
Muze,

Open your eyes and read, man. Our Lord’s words are plain as day!

Well, the next time you get a chance to discuss this topic with fellow Protestants, namely any group of Anglo-catholics, please explain to them your fallible exegesis regarding the topic of the Real Presence and listen to what they have say. I am sure they will disagree with you whole heartedly and provide their equally fallible exegesis on the matter.

Private judgment, Muze, private judgment! The curse of Protestantism!

So much for Sola Scriptura!

Time for you to wake up!
Well, it appears you’ve been reduced to this. I guess there isn’t anything more to say.

Have a nice day!
