Just curious how someone who believes Sola Scriptura would interpret this???
  1. Creation Story—Genesis 1:26 Then God said “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” See! The man has become like one of us, knowing what is good and what is bad!" Genesis 3:22
Why did God use the plural form?? Who is us??
  1. You need to recall the words of the Lord Jesus himself, who said, “There is more happiness in giving than receiving.” Acts 20:35
Can you show me where it is written in the Gospels that Jesus said these words???

3)Matthew 27:37 Above his head they put the charge against him in writing: “This is Jesus, King of the Jews”
Mark 15:26 The inscription proclaiming his offense read “The King of The Jews”
Luke 23:38 There was an inscription over his head: “This Is The King Of The Jews”
John 19:19 Pilate had an inscription place on the cross which read: “Jesus The Nazorean The King Of The Jews”

Uhmm??

Saul,Saul, why do you persecute me? Who are you, sir? he asked. The voice answered, "I** am Jesus, the one your are ** persecuting. Acts 9:4-5

Jesus had already Ascended into Heaven so how could Saul be persecuting him???

All the answers can be found in the scriptures themsevles, so the Sola Scripturist would simply turn to other places in the bible if necessary . . .

I am not sure exactly what you are asking . . . . . When I was a sola scripturist, I would have had no problem answering your questions using the bible . . .

Peace in HIm!

I don’t follow sola scriptura now. My words (inserted in green into the original post) do not necessarily follow my own beliefs, just those held in sola scriptura.

Sola Scriptura answer - WE/US is the Trinity - 3 persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Gosh, that was an easy one!
  1. You need to recall the words of the Lord Jesus himself, who said, “There is more happiness in giving than receiving.” Acts 20:35

Dake Study Bible answer:
The giver is more happy than the receiver. Where or when Christ said this is not known.

Other Sola Scriptura answers point to John 21:25 and admit freely that Jesus did things that aren’t written in the 4 Gospels. But that since since statement is in Scripture we know it to be of Jesus. Other statements purporting to be of Jesus but that aren’t found in scripture we do not know to be true so can reject them.

3)Matthew 27:37 Above his head they put the charge against him in writing: “This is Jesus, King of the Jews”
Mark 15:26 The inscription proclaiming his offense read “The King of The Jews”

Let’s quote from Barnes’ Notes here:
But the difficulty may be easily removed. John says that the title was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin. It is not at all improbable that the inscription “varied” in these languages. One evangelist may have translated it from the Hebrew, another from the Greek, a third from the Latin, and a fourth may have translated one of the inscriptions a little differently from another. Besides, the evangelists all agree in the main point of the inscription, namely, that he was the King of the Jews.

Saul,Saul, why do you persecute me? Who are you, sir? he asked. The voice answered, "I** am Jesus, the one your are **persecuting. Acts 9:4-5

Jesus had already Ascended into Heaven so how could Saul be persecuting him???

When you persecute the people of Jesus you persecute, by extension, Jesus. Scofield says that the Lord is here identifying himself with his people. Or, from Gill’s exposition of this passage:

…he knew him as one of his sheep, though straying, and calls him by name, and expostulates with him, wherefore he should persecute him in his members as he did; for the union between Christ and his people is so close, that what is done to them is done to him…

See, nice simple Sola Scriptura answers for you. I can agree go along with pretty much everything that I’ve quoted. But that doesn’t mean I follow a Sola Scriptura line.

Would one who follows “sola Scriptura” need to believe that Mary, the virgin mother of Jesus, is still alive (in the earthly human body sense)? Since her death is not in Scripture, it must have never happened! She of course is still “alive” in heaven with her Son.
