Were Adam and Eve actual, real people?
If we are all ‘descended’ from them, then aren’t we all related to each other?
If we are related to each other, then are we all commiting incest?
Who was Cain’s wife?
Who were her parents?

  1. Yes.
  2. Very, very distantly.
  3. No.
  4. She in unnamed in Scripture.
  5. They are likewise unnamed in Scripture.

Adam and Eve were most assuredly-or very likely the parents of Cain’s wife. It was not until the time of Moses that God ended sibling marriages, I believe as mentioned in Leviticus. By that time there was enough people that it was no longer necessary.

I’m not sure what this boards ettiquette regarding outside links is. If theres a problem please inform me.

Theres a really good IMO paper on “this” issue at this link:

Nice one!
But why do some people insist that EVERYTHING must be written down, recorded or filed away somewhere. If God accounted for EVERYTHING He did, we’d die before we had read about it.

My comment was motivated from the following at the given website
answersingenesis.org/home/area/tools/cains_wife.asp

“If Christians cannot defend that all humans (including Cain’s wife) can trace their ancestry ultimately to Adam and Eve, then how can they understand and explain the gospel? How can they justify sending missionaries to every tribe and nation? Therefore, one needs to be able to answer the question about Cain’s wife, to illustrate that Christians can defend the gospel and all that it teaches.”

Bear in mind that this seems (to me at least) to be a Creationist site, so you may not agree with all that they believe in. So I was expressing…
  1. frustration that critics of Christianity often demand precise, explicit scriptural (or is that scriptual?) evidence of things, and
  2. frustration that some Christians seem to spend a much time looking for this evidence.
Do you believe that the Bible is, to quote from here
    christiandoctrine.net/about/beliefs_web.htm#14.%20The%20Bible/The%20word%20of%20God
“The word of God, completely and utterly, is perfect and without flaw or contradiction. It is our only guide for living and for faith.”?

But isn’t the Gospel the New Testament?
Just how important is the Old Testament to Christians?

The Gospels (emphasis on the plural) are the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John they give the account of Jesus’s life and teachings.

The Old Testament is incredibly important to us even to this day! Its a revelation of Gods Holiness! They detail the attributes of God, His intervention and love for His people, teachings for Godly living as found in Proverb, than there are the beautiful Psalms. Ontop of that the prophecy contained in it proves the deity of Jesus and that God is truly-truly Lord!
