Just so you know Hank, Scott Hahn has been coming out individually with interpretations of the OT books. Check out some of them below:

Exodus:amazon.com/Exodus-Ignatius-Catholic-Study-Bible/dp/1586176153/

Daniel:www.amazon.com/Daniel-Ignatius-Catholic-Study-Bible/dp/1586177931/

Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon:amazon.com/Ignatius-Catholic-Study-Bible-Ecclesiastes/dp/1586177753/

Job:amazon.com/Job-Ignatius-Catholic-Study-Bible/dp/1586178342/

Hope this helps Hank!😛

OK, I’m super happy with the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible. However, I have some conflict with the Scott Hahn the Lamb’s Supper. This is my bias as a person born into the Catholic Faith. I did not realize Scott Hahn is a Christian convert to Catholicism. Having met Christian Converts–this is my ignorant bias–I’m not a fan of them; they tend to bring in their Protestant upbringing into the Catholic Faith. This is what I see Scott Hahn doing in this book.

For example, he claims John of the Gospel wrote Revelations as well which is commonly thought of in Christian circles. However, Catholic teaching is that this is a different John written centuries after the original John existed. I double checked this with the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible and it agrees.

To be perfectly Honest as a born and raised Catholic I know culturally we really don’t care about Revelations. At least not to the degree the Christians do. To be even more honest, I was a little suspicious of a Catholic writing about Revelations. To be even more, more honest I was very suspicious of a non-church leader writing anything about Catholicism.

I think I’m going to return it.

Do you realize that Scott Hahn’s hand was involved with both the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible and the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible Books listed above (the links above are not solely scott hahn, it is scott and other scholars)?

I wouldn’t worry too much. The pilgrim Church needs a healthy dose of Scripture in its life and while protestantism can influence people (such as scott hahn), brushes with other denominations does:thumbsup:n’t necessarily negate the validity and quality of the work.
