Some questions on Baruch

Baruch 2:35 And I shall make an everlasting covenant with them; so that I am their God and they are my people. And never again shall I drive my people Israel out of the country which I have given them.’

Jews have an eteranl covenant – How can that be when we are told in Hebrews that the New Covenant supersceeds the old?

Baruch 4:34-35 I shall deprive her of the joy of a populous city, and her insolence will turn to mourning; fire from the Eternal will befall her for many a day, and demons will dwell in her for ages.

What city is this? And, when did fire from heavan hit it?

Baruch 5:7 For God has decreed the flattening of each high mountain, of the everlasting hills, the filling of the valleys to make the ground level so that Israel can walk safely in God’s glory.

From the context, when has this or will this happen?

Ver. 35. Another. Greek, “an everlasting covenant,” (Haydock) by Christ, (Maldonat) prefigured by that which Nehemias renewed, 2 Esdras ix. 38. (Calmet) — The law of Moses was in force till Christ came. His law continues unto the end. (Worthington)

Baruch 4:34-35
Ver. 35. Fire of war. — Devils. Whether they really dwell in ruins, or the people were of that opinion, (as the common sort are still) is not clear, Jeremias l. 39., and Isaias xxxiv. 14.

Baruch 5:7
Ver. 6. Children. Greek, “the throne.” The return of the captives was a triumph, Isaias xlvi. 20., and xlix. 22. They had abundance of horses, &c., 1 Esdras ii. 66. Darius gave them a convoy of 1000 horsemen. (3 Esdras v. 2.) (Josephus, Antiquities xi. 4.)
