I couldn’t believe it. I think God is inviting me to daily Mass.

It seems a little hard to navigate but I should get the hang of it.

Hopefully, it wasn’t lost and found…

Is it new? Is there a name inside?

Maybe it belonged to a recenty deceased family member and they wanted to
donate it?

I’m pretty sure it was the free area but you know, I should probably ask the parish office before I keep it any longer. Thanks for the idea.

@7_Sorrows

I called the parish, they said it’s likely lost and found… someone didn’t know where to put it so they put it in the free stuff area… yikes! I’m bringing it back tomorrow. You saved the day, I don’t know why I didn’t think of that.

Hopefully when you bring it back you can bring it to a different area than “Free Stuff” so that someone else doesn’t think it’s free and take it themselves.

Assuming there is a parish “lost and found” separate from the “free stuff”, I would think that if no one claims it in a week or two you could mention that you would like to have it. Sometimes people do leave off in the church items they no longer want or that belonged to a dead relative.

Looking at the picture posted, I wonder if someone temporarily put it down there when they took out a book they were considering taking, then once they’d decided to take a particular book, simply forgot to pick up their Missal, and it was unintentionally left behind in the 'free stuff ’ area.

At our parish when we “find” an item of value we will put a post up on Facebook and announce it at Mass.

I would maybe turn it into the office if you think someone mistakenly left it behind
so nobody else picks it up.
If you found it in a chapel or library, maybe leave a note what was found and where you turned it in.

And let the office know if no one claims it after a certain amount
of time, you would be interested in keeping it.

They could certainly put a notice in the bulletin about it and direct them to the parish office.
