I have recently been exploring a conversion into the Catholic Church [edited] My concern is this, My Protestant husband and I, also from a Protestant upbringing, are a former divorced couple.
We both want to join the Catholic church and have many concerns regarding our “past decisions and actions about marriage.”
First, My 1st marriage, I was released by an unbeliever and my second marriage was civically annuled. In both marriages, I did not make a sound decision about marriage and in fact had very strong reservations at the times of vows.
This present marriage, my third, was also in a Justice of the Peace but was vowed with full conviction.
We have our skeletons of our past, but is our present Protestant third marriage even going to be recognized in the Church?
I am so confused with all of it. Impediments, annulment, etc.
Was not Mary Magdelane saved, even though she was accused by Jesus of being an adulteress with several husbands?
Someone please help me understand all of this.
I would like to think because of my convictions now, and my past ignorances about marriage, and that because it was “before” conversion, there’s a chance my present marriage can be recognized and we can get re-married in the Church.
I don’t know… confused!
