I went to Mass at another church yesterday. The church was beautiful and very traditional (NO in Latin, women with head coverings, etc) but 2 things struck me as very very odd. They did not have a processional, the priest just came from the back (there was a recessional after though) and also we sat during the Gloria (the only thing I could think of why here was that the priest sat down–he was probably 70 or 80—and everyone else followed)

Other than those two things every thing was wonderful but that just struck me as odd as I’d never seen it done before and this parish was so very traditional in everything else. Any thoughts or can someone tell me whether or not this is allowed? Thanks!

There is often no precessional. Especially if there is just a Priest, or a Priest and one server. They just come out of the sacristy, ring the bell, and approach the altar.

I’ve also seen this at TLMs. Nothing requires a processional, or a recessional.

God Bless

Yep, that’s what they did. It was only one priest and 2 servers. It was a small church. Thanks!
