My adult son tested positive for Covid-19 on August 12 and so far has had some good days and some tough days.

On the good days, he said it feels like he has a cold with congestion and some aches but otherwise feels ok.

On the bad days, he has a fever of over 100 to 101 degrees F and can’t sleep well. Taking Tylenol helps lower the temperature to low grade fever or to normal and allows him to rest.

He is single and lives alone, so my wife keeps in touch via text to make sure he’s coping as best as possible and has all the supplies that he needs. He has promised to call 911 if he starts feeling like the fever is getting out of control and he needs to be hospitalized, which is why he gives us regular status updates.

He is the first person who I know personally who has had Covid-19 so I was curious if his experience is typical or not in terms of the apparent roller coaster experience with fever.

Please pray for him if you don’t mind. His name is Dan and he is 33.

Note: He thinks that he and a friend got coronavirus at a restaurant the weekend of August 8 that allows half of previous seating capacity.

My wife and I last saw him Aug 6th (two days before he ate at the restaurant) and we feel fine so far (no symptoms).

Helpful article. 👍

He has trouble with his sense of smell currently.

We’ll keep our guards up since the article indicates that after about a week of mild symptoms, sometimes people deteriorate rapidly. I pray that doesn’t happen here with my son.

Praying that recovers soon and his illness doesn’t progress.

So sorry to hear this, my brother in Christ. May God grant your son quick and complete healing and grant you peace of mind.

Thanks for that, Glennon. You’re a good man.

You didn’t mention cough or difficult breathing, which is good because that appears to be the greatest risk. How’s his breathing?

I’m praying for him!

Hi Beryllos, my son has a dry cough and sore throat but no shortness of breath.Thank you very much for your prayers, my friend.

Praying your son recovers quickly!

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless, and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible,
look kindly upon us, and increase your mercy in us,
that in difficult moments, we might not despair nor become despondent,
but with great confidence, submit ourselves to your holy will,
which is love and Mercy itself.
Amen.

Sounds like what I had. I was mostly better after a week but the ticklish cough stayed and tapered off over the following week.

I believe he is right as I have heard the same from people I know. Lesson learned is please do not go to restaurants with reduced capacity. Too easy to get infected there.

I wasn’t aware you had it, too, Beryllos. I’m glad you recovered and are here to shed light on what to expect for my son.

From what I understand, it affects people differently. For example, my son’s friend has a higher fever that is more persistent whereas my son’s kind of comes and goes.

Today, my son said he felt tired and went to bed at 7:00pm but didn’t have a fever.

Yes, I think he let his defenses down and got tired of fixing his own meals at home and decided to have a change of pace.

The only problem, of course, is that masks are required to enter the restaurant but are removed when eating the meal, thus leaving oneself exposed to air droplets from others in the building.

Lord Jesus have mercy. Hope everything goes alright! I do have a friend that had it, but she never gave me the details. I don’t blame her.

The differences are remarkable. One evening, my 18-year-old son went to bed normal and woke up the next morning without the sense of smell or taste, and had no other symptoms. He has since (over several weeks) regained most of his smell and taste, 90-95%, he reports.

My fever was steady for the first 3 or 4 days, and then intermittent for the next few days.

With my dad, he had a fever first couple of days, then it was gone another two, and then it came back. But, he never had anything besides fever and general weakness.

Haven’t had it personally, but a friend in his late 50s had it and his one and only symptom was fatigue. None of his family contracted it, and to be honest, the only reason he was tested was because an employee of his turned up positive. No one else in their company has tested positive.

I’m so sorry to hear this, @Tommy999. Please be assured of my prayers and wishes for your son’s speedy recovery.
