How soul as a immaterial entity could take form considering the fact that it is immaterial?
The fact that “form” usually means “shape” I don’t think is an accident. Its a beautiful way of saying the body is completely clothed with the soul. Instead of asking how a soul can form a body, why not ask “why not!”How soul as a immaterial entity could take form considering the fact that it is immaterial?
My main objections are that soul is immaterial so it cannot occupy space and cannot be subjected to time. This must be true since at time of death, soul doesn’t have any shape and nor experience time contrary to any material beings. The fact that “form” usually means “shape” I don’t think is an accident. Does the soul of dead person occupy any room?It only knows space through the body. Time might be different
The soul only has time through the processes of the body, the heartbeat and breathing, etc.It only knows space through the body. Time might be different
Doesn’t occupy space or time until the spiritual body.Does the soul of dead person occupy any room?
“Form” technically does not only apply to material things but there can be immaterial forms. Rather, “form” is used to describe the inherent characteristics of X that identify it as a species. Hence, when we say that the soul is the form of the body, we don’t mean that the soul is physical but rather that it shapes the body into constituting those inherent human characteristics, which include physical appearance, but also mental attributes, like reason, emotions, etc.How soul as a immaterial entity could take form considering the fact that it is immaterial?
But something that doesn’t occupy cannot be located hence I am wondering how God could find us.Doesn’t occupy space or time until the spiritual body.
ICXC NIKA!
Well…he’s God!But something that doesn’t occupy cannot be located hence I am wondering how God could find us.
You are kidding. Every time that you are faced with a concept which is logically impossible then you bring your wild card so called God to evade the situation.Well…he’s God!![]()
If a logical impossibility had been demonstrated there might be a valid point here. As it is, there is nothing here but wild, baseless assertions. You are kidding. Every time that you are faced with a concept which is logically impossible then you bring your wild card so called God to evade the situation.
Things that don’t occupy space don’t need to be ‘located’, only recognized. Since God doesn’t occupy space and since the soul is the part of a human being that is in the image and likeness of God then it is only logical that God can recognize the soul. But something that doesn’t occupy cannot be located hence I am wondering how God could find us.
Do numbers occupy space? When I look at a table and see four legs on it, the number four does not occupy any space, yet I know there are FOUR legs. But something that doesn’t occupy cannot be located hence I am wondering how God could find us.
Immaterial forms have a direct and non-sensual kind of perception. For instance, you can recognise and know your thoughts directly but do not need access to material brain states to do so. Likewise, God knows us directly - here as we live - and in the afterlife. The difference is that in the interregnum between death and the general resurrection, we shall know God directly in a special way.But something that doesn’t occupy cannot be located hence I am wondering how God could find us.
Interesting question. I can give you an experiential answer that one soul can recognize another, if that is any help. How soul as a immaterial entity could take form considering the fact that it is immaterial?
