when we die do the souls go to either heaven or hell,or do they wait for the second coming of Christ?

When we die, God immediately judges our soul. If you died in the state of grace with no temporal punishment, your soul goes to heaven. If you died in venial sin or with temporal punishment still on your soul, you go to purgatory temporarily.(those who go to purgatory always go to heaven after they have made satisfaction for their sins) If a person dies in mortal sin, their soul goes to hell.

So, you do immediately go to your reward or punishment. However, at the Second Coming, your body will rise from the dead, and it will either share in your reward or punishment.
Note: Purgatory will not continue after the Second Coming. Therefore, your body does not share in the punishment in purgatory.
Hope this helps! 👍

yes this helps alot.cause i usually here how souls dont go to heaven or hell some get stuck in between ,not in pugatory but on earth.

Sounds kinda like what I heard about the belief of “soul sleep” or something. Isn’t this a Seventh Day Adventist belief or something? I could be wrong, but I firmly believe you have brought up a very good topic that needs much further explanation. Does anybody have any really good scripture to knock down the whole soul sleep theory?

Your soul and body cease to exist. Animals have a soul too. There is a third part of a human and that is the spirit. It is the spirit that communicates with God and lives on after death. I don’t even think you can separate soul and body. I think they are one unit separated from the spirit. The spirit goes immediately to heaven or hell after death. After the resurrection we will be given a new body.

Animals and plants have a mortal soul which dies when the animals and plants die. Humans have an immortal soul which is separated from our bodies upon death and if saved goes to Heaven (maybe via Purgatory) or if condemned goes to Hell. This is immediate upon death when The Particular Judgement takes place. The Final Judgment does not change the destination but it reunites our bodies with our souls.

What is your source for this third entity? I’ve never heard it described that way. We are ensouled creations of God last I knew.
