Spam from the forums

So I just joined the forums like 4 days ago, and today I got an email from a “member” asking for money to send himself throug college in Africa.
I assume it’s Spam becuase of the nature of the email and how it was worded. Does that happen to you guys?

Yes, it does every once in a while. Forward the message to a moderator and they will take care of it.

I thought it was so weird because I get spam all the time, but it seemed to be a new low to send it from this board. Weird.
I sent it to the moderator to be safe

I would suggest that you don’t allow other members to send you email.

If they want to contact you let them PM you.

To do so click “Profile” at the top, then click “Edit Options”

You will see

“Recieve Email”

From time to time, the administrators may want to send you email notices.

If you do not want to receive these notices, disable this option.
Receive Email from Administrators

You can allow other members to send you e-mail messages. Your e-mail address will not be revealed.
Receive Email from Other Members

I would leave the Administrators option check, but not other members.

Just my opinion. Stops spam and unwanted email.

Please directly forward any PM’d spam you receive to a moderator. If you receive something over email, please forward it to forumadmin@catholic.com.
