How about protestants lacking the testicular courage to nail a list on the church door?

No, no, no! Heresy is rejection or obstinate doubt regarding an article of faith, and rejection of contraception is not an article of faith. It is directly derived from doctrine, and thus its denial may be styled “sententia haeresi proxima,” or “an opinion approaching heresy.” But it is NOT heresy, and does NOT warrant excommunication.

I thought a heretic actually had to proclaim the heretical beliefs (or disbeliefs) and try to turn others away from the church? What if you reject or have “obstinate doubt” about those articles of faith, but stay quiet and not say a word? (Of course, you’d be a hypocrite at that point, but I’m talking about “heretic.”)

If you are equating Mass in the vernacular or facing ad populus, or anyother disciplinary practice of the Church with Martin Luther, then your definitions would be worthless to most Catholic anyway. I am confident most Catholics have a better grasp on heresy than that.
