Looks like even Hollywood thinks Cruise is losing it:
Spielberg Angry With Tom Cruise’s Antics

Don’t look for Tom Cruise to star in another Steven Spielberg film.

Spielberg is reportedly angry over Cruise’s antics during what were supposed to be promotional appearances for the movie "War of the Worlds,” when the actor ranted against the widespread use of Ritalin to treat children with Attention Deficit Disorder.

My wife told me this yesterday. I didn’t read your link but my wife told me Spielberg said he wouldn’t work w/ Cruise again. How’s that for getting knocked down the latter a couple of rungs!?

Although I wouldn’t be a bit suprised if it were true… the linked article only quotes a “source” who claims to be speaking for Spielberg. According to Tom’s attorney, the whole thing is a lie… so I’m not so sure who to believe. It sounds like it could be just a rumor??

What should we expect? Because Tom Cruise had some problems that made him go to a cult to have them replaced with new ones, we should “revere” this hyperactive crybaby when a woman gives him the proverbial “bloody nose”? If he’s got any sense about him, then Tommy-boy should grow up and get a life.

We all know(except for Scientologists) that Tom Cruise belongs to a crazy cult.

But everyone is making criticisms of how Tom Cruise made the statements on the Today Show.

I don’t think he should be criticized. He should be respected for standing up for his religion(even though it is a false one) against the liberal, modernist, materialistic, secular media.

As far as I know, he and Mel Gibson are the only ones in Hollywood to do that.

A media that loves scientology. So…what is the reward on that?

I agree, Kingdom. I respect Cruise for sticking up for what he believes, because EVERYONE is becoming politically correct, which leads to liberalism, modernism, and the like. Instead of saying what we feel, some people say, “Oh, yeah, he makes a good point there, but…” instead of “Well, I think you’re wrong, and here’s why…”

Stand up for your beliefs, even if they are wrong.

Hey?

I didn’t know it loved Scientology.
The Tom Cruise statement criticisms were all over the place. Even ESPN. They were all criticizing him and Scientology.

But the media loves it?

Well, it seems to me scientology is the “religion” that gets the most coverage on American media. I don´t live in the U.S. so I could be wrong though

The way my wife put it, it isn’t that Spielberg has a problem with Cruise’s religion. It’s that Cruise went on all these shows to promote the movie and instead he choose to fawn over his girlfriend/fiance/whatever or make statements about his faith. He was at all these places to promote a movie and he didn’t.

The media doesn’t, but the film industry dares not speak against is as many of the top draw actors/acresses, writers, producers are members of Scientology. They carry a lot of power in the industry and can/do break/lock out major projects if you’re caught speaking badly about scientology. Their black list would cost millions so no one wants to get on it.

Hollywood gives it a fair amount of respect I think. However, most of the regular folks are Catholic Christian, Protestant,or Jewish or Islamist ,and not too respectful of Scientology. We all know it is a cult.

I have been thinking about my last post. You know what? Hollywood does give Scientolgy more respect than all the legitimate religions. I suppose that they do that because they know it is a cult and they have more respect for that than a regular legitimate relgion that they merely make fun of.

They do it for the money, plain and simple.
It’s not respect. It’s fear.

I would tend to agree on most counts. Except, how about The Passion of The Christ? They avoided it even though it meant millions and billions of dollars. They prefer things like junk science (the enviornmental cult) and faux religion- the latest movie they are making about Jesus being married to Mary Magdalin.

By fear I mean fear of losing out on resources for making/distribution their projects.

When you look at the roster of Christian Scientists in L.A. you will see they are big names with big money. If you knock the Scientists they can effectively blackball any project you want to get out now and in the future. They impact writers, producers, directors, actors, financiers. It’s a “who knows who” world they operate in.

Few are wealthy and independent enough to be able to insult the Scientists openly by being able to take a financial/political hit. Mel is one of those few, as we could see. Not that he spoke out against the Scientists and therefore isn’t blackballed by them, but he was able to produced the film without their support, pretty much on his own finances and reputation. Many TV show people and film people need to be in the ‘inner circle’ of Hollywood.

That will change, I believe, however, in time.
