Are beings in the spirit world (God, angels, souls) genderless?

Yes. They don’t reproduce, for one thing. Humans would seem to be a different matter, since it could be argued that our gender is a fundamental part of who/what we are. So I’ll leave that for others.

This is one thing I think about, because we know there is no marriage in heaven (and by extension I would presume no reproduction, but that might be obvious), and it also is mentioned in the Bible that God does not distinguish between man and woman. So, I often wonder whether our own spirits have gender or not because it would seem meaningless to have gender as spirit, but on earth it is a critical part of who we are and our function in society.

But to answer the OP: The most I can say is that God and the angels most certainly do not have gender despite how we address them (eg. God as a male). The reason we refer to God as masculine is solely because that is how He chose to reveal Himself as is seen in Scripture.

I agree with the other posters that they are genderless. But maybe some beings are given a certain quality, that traditionally would be considered masculine or feminine, in accordance with their role in the spirit world? So while we may not see men or women spirits/angels, we see angels that are more “manly” and some that are more “womanly”. 🤷

I dunno, just a thought.

God would have masculine and feminine traits within Himself, or we would not be made as male and female beings in His image.

I suspect human souls retain their gender so to speak, although Christ said they will not marry. I think what we call gender would be transcended in some sense, but I have no idea how that would work.

As for angels, who knows? Maybe they merge with each other in some sense.

The reason I say this is that I remember a testimony given by a former homosexual some years ago now, in which he claimed Christ materialised in the room when he was about to commit suicide, moved towards him, and somehow merged with him. From that time on he claimed he never even had an impulse towards homosexuality, and had married and had a couple of kids.

So I don’t know if we will have gender or not after we die, and to be honest, I don’t really care.

thats a very good explanation. glad to know the indepth meaning. thank you

Your soul has a gender because he/she is not a pure spirit but the soul of your body!

The human mind is a product of the soul, and is certainly not gender less, but has the gender of the head/body the soul resides in.

Like our LORD, we will retain our gender identity in the pneumatikon soma.
