There isn’t a formula. We are expected to do them when they need doing. We are expected to do them when we see a need. We are expected to do them when an opportunity arises and we are able.
We are not expected to do them when we are not able, such as physically, financially, emotionally. We are also not expected to do “all” of them “all” the time, personally. Some of these things we “do” by contributing time, talent, and treasure to organizations that “do” them effectively for large populations of people.
The amount you do depends on your state in life. If you are young, you may not have much money, transportation, or freedom to do so-- parents may restrict what you do and where you go. When you are old, you have a limited income and are also limited in mobility and ability. A mom and dad with a lot of young children may be limited. So, when we are in our prime, we take on more. When we have circumstances that don’t allow us to do as much, we don’t do as much-- we pick and choose a few causes to support.
If you struggle with this, talk to your pastor.
