Hi Friends!
I am working on a research paper for my theology class. The topic is the theological definition, purpose, reason, etc, for spiritual darkness. I’m in need of some sources to reference to. I already have the great saints (John of the Cross, Teresa of Avila, Padre Pio…) but if you have any suggestions that would be great. Since it is a paper, if you could let me know where you got your sources from that would be awesome!

Mother Teresa’s writings in a book called Come Be My Light.
I hadn’t realised the depth of the dark times she went through.

You might find helpful info in the chapter “Fire in the Nights” from Fr. Thomas Dubay’s Fire Within: St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, and the Gospel-On Prayer. Here’s a link directly to that chapter:

St. Therese of Lisieux underwent trials of faith and spiritual darkness in her final months of life. Read about it here.
