Spiritual Directors for Lay Folks

Can a Layman have a spiritual director? If so, how does one go about getting one?
 
A lay person can have a spiritual director and a talk with your parish priest may be helpful. Other avenues are male religious orders who often undertake spiritual direction and nowadays some anyway female religious orders may. Even lay people nowadays can be trained in spiritual direction. Your profile does not state in which country you reside, but here in South Australia in our Diocesan Offices we have an office known as The Spirituality Office which can provide an enquirer with a list of formal spiritual directors and their phone numbers.

Most of all, pray about it.

I was given one without even asking the Lord! :rolleyes: He literrally shoved me toward this one priest that I disliked with a passion…and we have been together for 23 years.🙂
