Spiritual Directors

Hey everybody! I have heard of people having spiritual directors and wondering what exactly you do with them and how you get one? I know your priest is kind of your spiritual director every time you go to receive Reconciliation but isn’t there something beyond that. Do you just go up to a priest and ask" Hey will you be my spiritual director?" Just a brief lowdown on the subject would be helpful thanks!

I have a consecrated woman for my spiritual director. Typically when one goes to a spiritual director they work on their root sin. You develop some plan for your life to overcome the areas you fall most. Yes spiritual direction is done in confession as well. That is when I see the priest for spiritual direction.

What is Spiritual Direction? - Spiritual direction is the interaction of a person and a spiritual director to help the person notice and respond to the movement of God as experienced in prayer and in the events of ordinary life.

What does a Spiritual Director do? - The director acts as a listening, supportive person who creates an atmosphere where one can look honestly at his or her relationship with God as it is lived out in everyday life.
