Ok, so personal discernment on the first 2 and self-observation on the 3rd. Very good. Well I agree, we should all use our gifts to better the Body of Christ.

One is in state of grace - it is a spiritual gift. Graces are not what we earn, but given to us by God. Graces help us grow spiritually - if it is not spiritual gift, then I was wondering what it is?

I wanted to make the distiction between the seven gifts of the Spirit and charisms.
Charisms
799 Whether extraordinary or simple and humble, charisms are graces of the Holy Spirit which directly or indirectly benefit the Church, ordered as they are to her building up, to the good of men, and to the needs of the world.
800 Charisms are to be accepted with gratitude by the person who receives them and by all members of the Church as well. They are a wonderfully rich grace for the apostolic vitality and for the holiness of the entire Body of Christ, provided they really are genuine gifts of the Holy Spirit and are used in full conformity with authentic promptings of this same Spirit, that is, in keeping with charity, the true measure of all charisms. 253
801 It is in this sense that discernment of charisms is always necessary. No charism is exempt from being referred and submitted to the Church’s shepherds. “Their office [is] not indeed to extinguish the Spirit, but to test all things and hold fast to what is good,” 254 so that all the diverse and complementary charisms work together “for the common good.” catholicculture.org/library/catechism/index.cfm?recnum=3018
I’m pretty sure that a great confessor and Saint, Padre Pio could discern the state of a soul, as well as St. Faustina. Wouldn’t that be a gift for the building up of the Church?

I’d hate to have that gift. It seems like prophets aren’t too popular.
One of my friends has a very devout and spiritually gifted family. She has a sister who can read souls and has prophecy. My friends says that a lot of people in her family avoid the sister.
She says usually her sister uses her gifts in a very gentle way to help the spiritual progress of the other. One time, my friend was not doing well spiritually, and her sister stopped her at a family party and suggested she go to Confession. Another time when my friend was resisting a call from God, the sister told my friend that she would quit her job and assume a vocation within a vocation–living as a contemplative in the setting of motherhood and wifehood.
I find mystics very attractive because they image God.
I think my gift is teaching. At least it’s where my talents and joys lay.
Also, I have a gift of ideas–I don’t know what to call that. But, I am often inspired with great ideas or creative ways to implement great ideas of others. When I was a kid, I was often called weird because of my great imagination. Now, God is using my imagination to inspire different projects for (hopefully) his glory.
I would welcome another charism if God wanted to give it to me. I think I’m not prayerful enough right now. Sometimes, I get a flash that makes me think that He’s giving me the gift of discernment. But, I can’t be sure it’s not my own imagination. So, I’m careful about sharing these flashes.

Your methods seem disingenuous, misslollipops. I have seen you try this method now several times. You already know the answer to these questions, but use them to bait members of the forum into answering you.
It might have been better to start out with this post, since it is more honest. From some of your other posts on this thread, you intend to communicate that the Body of Christ is being impaired by people’s failure to recognize and use their gifts.
Is that why you are here? Are you exercising your gift with us?
You have been inadequately educated miss. It most certainly is. Perhaps, since it does not appear this way in your “list” you don’t recognize it?

Yes, you can use any thread that is hosting your topic of interest. It is best to search for one like you did before starting a new one.
Yes, some are given their spiritual gifts before birth, as scripture testifies. John was filled with the spirit from his mother’s womb, and there are other similar examples.
Children often have an easier time manfiesting gifts because they receive them with spontaneity, and do not think too much (stifle). This is one of the things Jesus meant when He said “let the little children come unto me, for of such is the Kingdom”.

Yes, I do. My son, whose birth was a blessing from God, has said some very profound things which makes me think he has received a very special gift from God.
He loves Jesus and claims that he tells him things. For example, at age 3, he told me, “God gave me to you, Mama.” There are many other examples I would rather savor in my heart. I haven’t found any other comparable situations on the internet and I was starting to wonder if there were any other children like this.

There was this couple who was very pious. They prayed and went to church much. One day while at church they both saw the statue of Jesus on the cross at the front of the church move. They took it as a sign to go to church and pray more.
Over time pictures of the virgin Mary started talking to them and everything. They felt so blessed. All the images that they saw kept telling them to pray more and more so they assumed it was God.
It wasn’t long before their bills weren’t getting paid and the man was about to loose his business as they were spending all their time at church.
They were excited about what was happening and shared it with some Church members. Some of the church members being the cautious type offered to pray deliverance prayers with them. The couple saw no harm in this and agreed. After the prayers were completed the experiances stopped entirely. It was then that the couple realized it wasn’t God at all but an evil spirit working to gain their trust and ruin thier lives on earth. There is more to this story than I can type here but I think you get my point. Besides God would never stop working in someones life because of a deliverance prayer being prayed.
I am sure you already do this but pray much for your son just as a safety precaution. Your son is far to precious not to be cautious.
It sounds like something is in fact giving him information, but we can’t be absolutely certain that this information is from God. You need to test the spirits to be sure and he is probably to young to do that.
You can go to this website and contact Father Fortea if you wish. I believe he is a vatican approved exorcist and he is very knowledgable regarding spirits and spiritual warfare. I am NOT saying that your son is possessed at all. I am only pointing you to this priest because he would probably be able to help you discern what is happening. He has helped me a bit lately try to figure out some issues that my son and I have had with spirits and is helping us to determine what is from God and what is not. First, pray about it. Then experiment in things that you think you might have an intrest in. Then use them to the Glory of God. Find a way to participate in Chruch with these gifts. For example, being a musician, I am part of our parish’s band and choir. There are a million possibilities, don’t be shy and don’t be afraid to try new things. Just please God with them.
