What are your thoughts on spiritual growth and maturity? What does it mean to you? What does it look like? How do you know if you’ve grown?
 
One’s spiritual life and prayer life advance hand in hand. One way to judge advancement in the spiritual life is to exam advancement in one’s prayer life.

Thank you but how would you assess prayer life?
 
From what I’ve read growth and maturity in prayer and the spiritual life can be measured by the outward manifestation of the virtues. If one is becoming more loving towards one’s neighbors one is growing in the interior life.
 
I think it’s impossible to measure your own spiritual growth and maturity, for once you do, your ego kicks in and tries to capitalize on it.

In other words, it’s the antithesis of humility, which is an absolute necessity for spiritual growth.

I tend to agree with Mary Ellen…until I start thinking how virtuous and loving I am.:angel1:

But really it is not for use to judge each other (although we probably all do, especially when we admire someone). It is God’s judgement. But still, we have the examine before confession and it seems good to reflect on how we are doing.

As I look at my life in the past 10 years, have I grown spiritually? Well, let’s see: am I more loving? Patient? Virtuous? Have I grown in fruits of the spirit? Love of God? Am I happier? More joyful? More at peace? Do I pray more? More generous with my time and resources?

I guess it can be a very complex question.
