Just got an offer for this in the mail. I’ve never hard of it before. Any reviews? It is published by a discalced Carmelite Friars group in Washington, DC. This is from their website:
Spiritual Life is a quarterly journal of contemporary spirituality that is published by the Discalced Carmelite Friars of the Washington Province. Spiritual Life contains articles that deal with various aspects of Christian Spirituality and their application to everyday life. Carmelite spirituality is also featured, examining the meaning of the lives and writings of St. John of the Cross, St. Teresa of Avila, St. Therese of Lisieux, Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity, and St. Edith Stein.

Hi Sr. Sally -

I subscribed for a year or so and thought the magazine was pretty good 🙂 The focus is exclusively on Carmelite spirituality and most of the people in my OCDS community prefer this magazine over the other Carmelite magazine (can’t remember the name). I dropped the subscription for the simple reason that I can’t keep up on all the things I’d like to read 🙂

Thanks Dave! That’s the kind of info I was looking for. I’m still not sure this is the right mag for me, but I was worried about it being “out there” in a zen kind of way. lol Glad to hear that it’s not like that.

PS. The Washington Friars are also involved with the Institute of Carmelite Studies (ICS) and ICS Publications which provides the best translations (imo) of all the Carmelite Saints.
