Spiritual promises of the chotki

Don’t know if this is the right area to post this and apologize if it’s not.

So, I know there are spiritual promises attached to the rosary and certain other devotions in the Western Church. I recently purchased a chotki and have found I really enjoy praying it.

I was just curious if there are any spiritual promises attached to the praying of the chotki, like there are with the rosary? Even if there are no promises attached to it, I fully intend to keep praying the chotki and Jesus Prayer daily, this is just a question from pure curiosity.

I, for one, have never heard of any “spiritual promises” attached to praying the chotki. I think you might find that such a notion is rather foreign to the mindset of Eastern Christians. However, we can ask what we may expect when we pray the chotki/Jesus Prayer with attention.

By calling upon the Name of the Lord with attentiveness, we are calling upon His very Person. We are inviting His presence into our hearts and into our lives. We are growing in awareness/attentiveness to His presence (and that of the Holy Spirit) within us. Such an invitation and such an awareness by nature is transformative. We are drawn into closer communion with God and others. The stirrings of our hearts and our very thoughts begin to change. Our actions and the way we treat others begin to change. Even the way in which we perceive and know the Lord is gradually transformed, purified.

Again, though, the Fathers are all perfectly clear that we cannot expect any of this to happen if we do not make an effort. Prayer is work. The words of a prayer - even one as powerful as the Jesus Prayer - are just words if they are not prayed with attention. Attentiveness is difficult work because we are so accustomed to allowing our minds to float from thought to thought, from distraction to distraction. Focusing on the prayer and being mindful of the One to Whom the words are addressed can prove to be one of the most difficult undertakings of one’s life.

Just to clarify, the only reason I pray my chotki or any of my devotions is because I love Jesus and the Saints and want to tell them I love them all day long. I dont pay attention to spiritual promises of devotions, I just trust the Lord to hear my prayer. Just was curious.
