If I am understanding things right. We draw our spiritual strength from the Mass. The body and blood. I have some similar problems as did Augustine. I wonder how he did it. I am getting ready for a endoscopy and colonoscopy my Dr. wants me to get. Whew talk about needing strength. I want to get the healing sacrament too. It’s time for that isn’t it? Maybe that bestows strength but it only must heal in accordance with faith. How do we increase our faith. 😃

A few years ago I had a colonoscopy. What helped me to drink all of the required liquid within a specific time frame was the Lord’s words: “I Thirst”. That enabled me to continue drinking the liquid. 🙂

Certainly talk to your priest about the tests you have coming up, and he can be of help.

I will pray for you right now.

Peace,

Dorothy

In a word: Trust.
I will pray for successful procedures and healing.

You asked “how do we increase our faith”.

Romans 10:17

Thus faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ.

I would suggest reading Scripture.

You cannot increase your faith by yourself like you do with cardinal virtues. You have to ask a lot to God to increase your faith and practice cardinal virtues, but in the end, it’s all in God’s hand to increase your faith.

Unlike the cardinal virtues, which can be practiced by anyone, the theological virtues are gifts of God through grace.

Because they aim at a supernatural end, however—that is, they have God as “their immediate and proper object” (in the words of the Catholic Encyclopedia of 1913)—the theological virtues must be supernaturally infused into the soul.

Thus faith is not something that one can simply begin to practice, but something beyond our nature. We can open ourselves to the gift of faith through right action—through, for instance, the practice of the cardinal virtues and the exercise of right reason—but without the action of God, faith will never come to reside in our soul. catholic.about.com

I would say what is heard is heard by those “who have an ear to hear” or else falls on stony ground.

I have heard that the preparation is worse than the procedure. I will see if a thermagram or virtual colonoscopy which is less invasive could help. If not even after a thermagram a colonoscopy might be needed.

What is it that taking part in the body and blood for? It is our life I have heard. Not something to do once in a while. As much as possible.

I have heard a number of people who have had to ride the silver rocket say that they were given some joy juice and never had a clue as to the procedure going on. Speak with your doctor.

Well I asked him about a thermogram. He said, “What’s that?” So much for that idea. I get both procedures. I am getting penance, host, and healing sacrament.

Speaking from experience the only hard part of a colonoscopy is drinking that gallon of go-lightly the day before. Some sadist made up that name.

I hope that your tests are okay. That is a worry as well.
