In the Litany of the Holy Ghost, part of the prayer expresses: Spiritual Unction.

Please explain Spiritual Unction.
 
“Unction” is an anointing. Think “extreme unction”, the “anointing of the sick.”

So what does the Holy Spirit spiritually anoint? Think of it like the Holy Spirit anointing your soul with his gifts and graces. Or spiritual enlightenment. Or knowledge and discernment.
