Can someone explain to be how indulgences don’t fall under the idea of superstision?

I dont mean that to be disrespectful in the least. I am sincere. I have only been in communion with the Church since '07 and this is one area that makes me pause and go “Lord, the idea of indulgences, as practiced, sounds like a leaning towards superstision and denies Your Mercy”

TIA

“Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven” Jesus gave Peter the ability to bind and loose, and that goes down through the current Pope.

Indulgences don’t affect your salvation. Indulgences affect your repayment for sin. God’s Mercy forgives sin, but you still owe Him repayment for that sin. This corresponds with purgatory and the apologetic explanations for purgatory.
