See if this helps (Luke 1:34):

And Mary said to the angel, “How shall this be, since I have no husband?” 35 And the angel said to her,
Code:
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God.

Dear friend

Our Blessed Virgin Mother Mary is the spouse of Love, the Holy Spirit. She is the spouse of Love because she is sinless (conceived without original sin), spotless and united contemplatively to Love. To be united contemplatively to Love, to God, is to live intimately with God, to be a living prayer before the Father in all aspects of life. No other is united to the Truine God in contemplation as our Blessed Virgin Mother Mary, she is the only born without original sin and never committed sin of any kind, preserved from birth from sin, the Immaculate Conception. Her unification with God is unique and in this uniqueness she is so closely united to God that she by the power of the Holy Spirit, bore God within her and brought forth from her Blessed womb the Saviour of the World, God Incarnate, Christ Jesus.

She lived intimately in His Love since her conception in the womb, created by God as the new Eve in complete union with God, in complete union with Love. She is the ark of the new covenant, she is created to be the first Holy Temple of the Lord, she is the beginnings of salvation, created to be as such whilst possessing free-will, she is co-redemptrix. Just as man must partake in his own salvation whilst possessing free-will, though our Victory is Christ Jesus, so it is Our Blessed Virgin Mother Mary who though perfect, partook in salvation and rightly so as human nature was her spotless created soul’s vestage.

It was not by physical means that Christ Jesus was begotten as man, but purely by Love and this Love is the Love between the Father and the Son, this Love is the Holy Spirit and thus our Blessed Virgin Mother Mary is the spouse of Love, of the Holy Spirit.

Indeed all generations fulfill her prophecy and call her ‘Blessed’.

This is the intimacy God desires with His creatures, that we bear Him in our souls and give birth to Him daily to the world and to each other. This is the Eucharistic joy of Mary, this is our Eucharistic JOY, to be united to Love, Christ Jesus and in by and through Him to our Truine God.

Blessed Virgin Mother Mary, our refuge, pray for us. Amen.

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Teresa

Absolutely beautiful post Teresa!

Semper Deo gratias et Mariae!

Being a spouse to the Holy Spirit is also one of the reasons why we believe in Our Lady’s perpetual virginity. St. Joseph would never mess with a strong man’s bride. :nope:

Well… I’ve always just viewed it as the following:

Fact: Jesus’s parents were Mary and God.

Possibilities:
  1. God raped Mary (nu-uh)
  2. God and Mary fornicated (nu-uh)
  3. God and Mary are espoused (uh-huh)
